Fishing rods: Chillet, Cattiva, Pengullet and Depresso

v1.0.5 item records · checked October 8, 2026

The short answer

The technology path is Chillet at level 15, Cattiva at 29 and Pengullet at 45. Gumoss, Croajiro and Depresso are schematic alternatives. A search for an “advanced rod” can mean the ordinary Pengullet craft or the Depresso schematic variant.

Choose by your unlocks and the spot's equipment recommendation. A rare schematic is a separate acquisition task, not a prerequisite for every fishing attempt.

Plan the three technology crafts

Each recipe produces one rod
Rod / levelMaterialsDurability
Chillet / 1510 Paldium Fragments, 3 Aquatic Pal Fluids, 8 Ingots, 8 Fiber120
Cattiva / 2930 Paldium Fragments, 5 High Quality Pal Oil, 10 Cement, 30 Fiber240
Pengullet / 4570 Paldium Fragments, 15 High Quality Pal Oil, 15 Pal Metal Ingots, 10 Carbon Fiber480

Read the named ingot: ordinary Ingots and Pal Metal Ingots are different inputs. Reserve Oil for the whole upgrade rather than arriving at the bench with only the metal prepared.

Find the compatible bench and equip the finished rod

Chillet can be crafted at a High Quality Workbench. Cattiva requires a Production Assembly Line or a later listed facility. Pengullet's production row lists Production Assembly Line II and advanced facilities. Check that facility's menu after unlocking the recipe; an empty earlier bench is not proof the materials are wrong.

  1. Unlock the selected technology, or obtain the schematic alternative.
  2. Open its compatible production facility and confirm that the preview is the rod you intend to make.
  3. Produce and collect it, then equip the finished rod before leaving the base.
  4. Check condition and bring bait. Test at one manageable spot before moving into a harder region.

What changes with the Depresso variant?

The current Depresso recipe uses 140 Paldium Fragments, 20 High Quality Pal Oil, 30 Pal Metal Ingots, 20 Carbon Fiber and 5 Coralum Ingots. Its recorded durability is 720; its hit-bar scale is 1.9 versus Pengullet's 1.8. Durability and bar size are different fields, and neither is a listed guaranteed legendary-reward probability.

Use the current schematic source record to inspect available reward routes. This guide does not promise a particular number of barrels or casts. The August 23 Steam discussion includes a player reporting hundreds of magnet pulls without the rod; that experience is a reason to budget attempts, not an exact drop-rate denominator.

Upgrade the cause of the failure

If your cast never reaches an active shadow, check aim, bait and the fishing interaction. If the capture gauge keeps draining, consider both a stronger rod and a support party. Changing only durability will not teach the bar timing.

For a short practice trip, an already unlocked craft is a useful starting point. For World Tree fishing, read the current recommendation and compare the resources needed to improve your setup before consuming your remaining bait.
