Can Pals eat from the Guild Chest? Supply food across bases

October 22, 2026 player reports · PalDB v1.0.5 building data

The short answer

Keep a stocked Feed Box at each working base. The current player discussion distinguishes shared Guild Chest storage from the local box Pals use to eat. Putting all your Salad in shared storage is not a demonstrated automatic feeding system.

You can cook at one base and distribute finished meals yourself. Store reserve supplies separately, then check the actual Feed Box and hungry workers at every destination.

Shared storage and feeding do different jobs

The Guild Chest record describes inventory shared between bases where the chest is placed. That is access to items, not a promise that a worker will fetch its meal from shared inventory. The Feed Box description explicitly identifies it as a place hungry Pals can feed.

In wub2wubz’s October 22 discussion, LastGuardian1 reports using separate farming, mining and production bases, but still manually moving food to local feeding storage. Denali_Nomad and DonLeopoldo7 also describe central cooking followed by distribution. These are player workflows, not our own gameplay test or a measured optimum.

Run one kitchen and refill each base

  1. Choose a cooking base that already has the crops, ingredients and worker access for the meals you want to make.
  2. Cook a batch you can afford. The discussion uses Salad as an example; it does not establish a required batch size or one best meal for every worker.
  3. Keep a reserve in shared storage if that fits your setup. Check the Guild Chest from a second base to confirm you are looking at the same stock.
  4. Move a portion of finished food into that base’s Feed Box. Repeat at each active base instead of assuming the shared reserve counts as a local meal supply.
  5. Watch a hungry worker reach and use the local box, then check that food remains available after normal work resumes.
  6. Refill based on actual consumption. The number of bases, workers and time away changes how much to carry.

If Pals are hungry despite a large stockpile

The Guild Chest is full but the Feed Box is empty
Transfer finished meals into the local feeding box. Shared inventory is the reserve in this workflow.
Meals are in the local box but a worker does not eat
Check whether that worker can reach the box and whether its present state allows it to move. A food stock problem and a pathing problem need different observations.
You want everything moved automatically
The cited replies do not verify a universal transport/filter setup that keeps both shared reserves and every Feed Box supplied. Start with the manual distribution route before changing storage permissions.
You are comparing spoilage claims
Players report preservation in Guild Chests, but this guide does not guarantee permanent preservation across future patches or turn it into proof of feeding access.

For a second storage issue, distinguish the Item Retrieval Machine and its bulk-store input. A machine that accesses stored items does not replace the local feeding step.
