World Tree Holy Water not working? Buff your active Pal and restock
If World Tree trees or Paloxite disappear even while you glow blue, check your summoned Pal. In the September Reddit report, the player had used Holy Water on themself but not their Frostallion Noct. Using it on both solved the harvesting problem. Alternatively, recall the Pal while gathering alone.
Your own effect does not prove that the Pal beside you is protected. Start with that specific check before consuming more water on yourself or treating the resource as a broken node.

Apply the water to each character that approaches the node
- Move away from an unharvested World Tree resource and open your inventory.
- Use World Tree Holy Water and select yourself as its target. The original PC report uses right-click; use the item action shown on your platform.
- If you plan to harvest with a summoned Pal nearby, use the item again and select that Pal. Selecting yourself once is not the same as selecting both targets.
- Approach a fresh resource with the intended Pal and attempt the harvest. Check that the node remains available and you can collect its material.
- If you prefer to gather alone, recall the Pal, keep your own effect active and approach another fresh node.
Recheck after changing your active Pal. The demonstrated fix concerns the Pal that was actually beside the player, not a claim that every stored Pal must drink water.
Why the blue glow can mislead you
HappyFunGameOG’s September 24 question describes using the item on themself, seeing blue rising light, then losing resources seconds later. ThrogdorLokison’s reply explains that an unprotected summoned Pal can still approach the resource. The player subsequently confirms successful gathering after treating both themself and Frostallion Noct.
The player’s visible effect can therefore remain while this particular interaction still fails. Reapplying only to yourself does not address the reported cause. This is an attributed successful community report; it is not our own gameplay test or a guarantee for all server, mod and platform combinations.
Rainbow rarity alone is also insufficient evidence of a replacement effect. The same discussion distinguishes special World Tree passives from ordinary Rainbow examples. This page uses the water/recall solution and does not promise that any Rainbow Pal prevents resource disappearance.
Choose a Holy Water source you have unlocked
| Route | Preparation | When it fits |
|---|---|---|
| World Tree Pal drops | A party that can handle the target | You are already exploring or fighting there. |
| World Tree fishing | Suitable rod, bait and fishing party | You want catches and World Tree item rewards. |
| Large Fishing Pond | Unlocked large pond, Handiwork and the matching pool | You want base production; check the selected reward list. |
| World Tree expedition | The expedition unlocked and its displayed requirements met | You can spare the assigned party. |
The official v1.0.3 changes added water to World Tree fishing, expeditions and the Large Fishing Pond and increased some Pal-drop rewards. These current options replace advice written before those additions. Current PalDB item entries corroborate those reward systems; a listed pool is not a promise of the same quantity from every method.
Use the fishing-party choices, route guide or large-pond requirements to prepare. Do not build an ordinary early pond and assume every selected region produces Holy Water.
Carry enough for the player and the Pal
Reserve separate uses if both of you will approach resources, and leave a spare allowance for another active Pal or an effect that expires during a longer trip. Current data lists the item’s weight as 0.1, so ten waters weigh one before other inventory items are counted.
v1.0.3 extended the effect duration. The checked item record does not establish an exact current number of minutes, so we do not budget a trip around an older timer. Check the active effect in your game and replenish before continuing when necessary.
If resources still disappear
- Confirm that you used the correct item and targeted yourself, not simply carried it.
- Recall your Pal and try a fresh node alone while the effect is active. This separates the reported companion problem from another cause.
- If the solo attempt works, use water on the Pal you intend to summon and test again.
- If it fails even alone, record the platform, client/server versions, mods, effect state and resource type for a Pocketpair support report.
Do not assume a node that already vanished will instantly reappear after applying water. Test an available resource. The thread’s long-range cutting suggestion has conflicting results, so it is not included as a reliable harvesting method.
