Best fishing Pals: choose a party for your actual problem

v1.0.5 partner-skill records · checked October 8, 2026

The short answer

Use Jelliette when your goal is more fishing items, Gloopie when the capture gauge drains, and Whalaska when you want a stronger start and faster overlap progress. These party skills solve different problems; Jellroy's item effect is for salvage.

Start with Pals you own and the failure you observe. A party built only for item quantity will not necessarily help you keep the bars together long enough to complete a difficult catch.

The listed effects apply while in the party. Do not replace that condition with “assigned at base.” Their records say they do not stack: extra copies of the same bonus are not a reason to multiply its percentage across all five slots.

Inspect the skill level before planning condensation

The range is not a random roll each time. Partner-skill level changes the recorded bonus, so inspect the Pal you actually own. Condensation is one way to improve that level; it consumes other Pals rather than Pal Souls.

Current four-star planning starts with 48 uncondensed same-species material Pals across four ranks, plus the Pal you keep. Use the updated rank budget before collecting old-guide quantities. Choose the keeper first and verify the result preview rather than sacrificing your intended fishing Pal by mistake.

Test the party with a limited bait stack

  1. Identify the bottleneck: failed gauge control, slow successful catches, low item quantity or the desired Pal's talents.
  2. Put the corresponding support Pal in the party and read its current skill level.
  3. Keep the rod, bait, region and world settings the same for a short comparison. Change one part of the setup at a time.
  4. Observe whether catches finish and whether the specific problem improves. Item count after one catch is not a legendary-drop-rate test.
  5. If the problem persists, check the interaction and equipment recommendation before committing more condensation materials.

Keep fishing and salvage bonuses separate

Jelliette's fishing-item bonus and Jellroy's salvage-item bonus belong to different reward systems. Their paired base Watering effect is another condition again. A sea barrel, ordinary fish shadow and production pond should not all be treated as the same “fishing” keyword.

World Tree players reported different outcomes even with strong parties. Use a setup as an option to try, not a guarantee that every endgame minigame becomes easy.
